Protein Domain
What is a Protein Domain ?
A Protein Domain is a conserved piece of protein sequence that is know of structure and function, with a length typically ranging from 20- 500 amino acids long. [1]
How to learn about a protein domain?
Pfam and SMART are online databases of protein domains. Besides them, PubMed also have informations and suggestion on protein domain.

What are protein domains of DYX1C1?
The presence of CS and TPR domain suggests the complexity of dyslexia that most probably dyslexia is caused by multiple proteins. Coiled coil region provide an interesting insight and suggestion: could it be mutation in DYX1C1 in the coiled coil region that alters dynein arm assembly and thus alter mechanical support of cilium during neuron migration, causing dyslexia.
This domain analysis also suggests that mouse is the better model organism to model human DYX1C1.
